Let’s hear from two nurses employed at TVH as they share their experiences at the hospital and as part of Southwest Healthcare.

Tawny Bland, ICU Clinical Nurse Supervisor

Tawny Bland RN, BSN, is the TVH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Clinical Nurse Supervisor. She has been with the hospital since it opened in 2013. Her job includes overseeing and supporting the ICU nursing staff, collaborating with providers to coordinate patient care plans, and providing education and support to patients and their families.

To her, health in harmony means meeting both the physical and emotional needs of patients, as well as integrating compassionate care with the wellbeing of the community.

“I help bring this harmony by striving to provide holistic care that considers the whole person, not just their medical condition,” Bland explains. “This includes building strong relationships with patients, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, and engaging in preventive and educational efforts to promote overall wellness.”

In her role at TVH, she acts as a liaison between ICU staff, other departments and senior management to ensure effective communication and collaboration. She also addresses any questions or concerns from patients and families, offering emotional support during challenging times.

“The sense of family among colleagues at TVH and the dedication to improving health outcomes in our community reflect the core values I hold dear,” Bland says. “Being part of this organization means contributing to a legacy of compassionate and effective healthcare, and that makes me incredibly proud.”

Bland is pleased to be part of Southwest Healthcare’s broader mission.

Catherine Villota, ACU/Cath Lab Clinical Supervisor

Catherine Villota RN, BSN, is a Clinical Supervisor in the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU)/Cath Lab at Temecula Valley Hospital. With the hospital for nearly a decade, she is responsible for making sure that the flow of the unit is efficient and effective. This involves assigning and delegating nursing tasks, as well as coordinating with providers and maintaining safety standards.

Her goal is to help patients have a great experience at TVH, and to provide comfort and care to patients and their families.

“What inspires me to do what I do is my desire to help people and make a difference in their lives,” Villota says. “The ability to contribute to a team that helps patients inspires me to do what I do.”

She is also inspired by the mission of Southwest Healthcare and works to do her part in realizing that mission.

“Southwest Healthcare not only commits to treating illnesses but is committed to disease prevention and stronger community connections to improve the lives of the people it serves,” Villota explains. “I help accomplish this mission by coordinating care for patients preparing for and recovering from a procedure.”

Southwest Healthcare continues to grow and Villota appreciates how the network offers growth in other ways.

“We have extensive resources, advanced technology, and specialized expertise that support patients and their families,” she says. “Being part of Southwest Healthcare continues to be an enriching experience for my personal and professional growth.”
