This program is intended for all staff who provide care to neurologically impaired patients in acute care facilities. The symposium will provide lecture and discussion topics focused on a wide range of information related to current trends for optimal care, newest technology and best practice strategies for patients who have suffered a stroke.</p>

Stroke Symposium 2025 EMS objectives:</h3>

Describe how a Transcranial Doppler (TCD) with bubbles is a valuable screening tool for the detection of a Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) in patients who have suffered a stroke</li>
<li>
Recognize and explain the distinct risk factors and symptoms of stroke in the different sexes, enabling a more tailored approach to prevention and early detection.</li>

Understanding the indication for surgical interventions in acute stroke cases, including External Ventricular Drain placement and decompressive craniectomy, and their impact on patient outcomes.</li>

Assess the integration of cardiovascular health monitoring and interventions in stroke care protocols, promoting a comprehensive approach to stroke prevention and recovery that incorporates cardiovascular risk management.</li>

Understanding the criteria for selecting suitable candidates for thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke, including the timing, imaging criteria and clinical presentation, to optimize patient outcomes.</li>
